AMRITLAL VIRPAL PAREKH TECHNICAL INSTITUTE, Rajkot popularly known as AVPTI, Rajkot which has entered its name and fame in the fields of Electronics and Communication all over India was established long back in July 1948 with a generous donation of Rs.1,05,001 from Sheth Shri Amrutlal Virpal Parekh, a great local donor and philanthropist with an aim to start a Training Centre for Wireless Telegraphy in Rajkot. The aim was realised by the tireless efforts made by Shri R.K.Yagnik, Principal of Dharmendrasinhji Arts & Science College. His efforts made this Institute as the first in India to start the course of Wireless Telegraphy. Beside this, a Diploma course in Advanced Radio Communication was started simultaneously. The institute was graced by the blessings of the great scientists like Sir C. V. Raman (see photo gallery), who visited the institute in 1951.  After 60 years of establishment it has remained a pioneer institute in the field of Telecommunication, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control and now in Computer and Bio-medical too. This Institute is situated in the center of Rajkot City between Dr. Yagnik Road and Tagore Road  behind Dharmendrasinnjhji Arts & Science College. It is just 2 km from bus station and 3 km from railway station and air port. Rajkot is well connected with all important cities of Gujarat and India by road, rail and air.
